From the first day of 2020, will be launched the “rebate” system, the exhibition of domestic film locations “LocationEXPOuz” will held for the first time. National Pavilion of Uzbekistan will be organized annually at international film events, as well as funding to provide organizational, industrial, and technical assistance to foreign film companies will give a big breakthrough in the development of cinema tourism.
According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for the further development of the tourism sector” from January 1, 2020, Uzbekistan will reimburse part of the cost (“rebate”) of foreign film companies for audio-visual products in the territory Republic of Uzbekistan. The cost will be compensated from the funds of the State budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the amount of up to 20 percent of the film spent on the film.
Now, Uzbekistan is joining to worthy fight for film producers, which positively affects the flow of tourists and the image of the country.
For the first time, the annual exhibition of local cinema locations “LocationEXPOuz” will be organized in Uzbekistan. The event will be held within the framework of an international cinema festival “PROlogue”. “LocationEXPOuz” is a show real, which allows getting acquainted with local cinema locations, production technical conditions to have a shooting process for leading cinema producers, cinema companies and location managers from all around the world with the primary purpose of attracting foreign cinema production and co-production in the territory of Uzbekistan.
According to the document, organization of National Pavilions during interactional cinema events and organization of an annual exhibition of local cinema locations “LocationEXPOuz” within the framework of International cinema festival “PROlogue”, which was created to promote local cinema, cinema locations ,cinema tourism and rebate system, will be implemented by the side of National cinema commission of Uzbekistan. All the needed organizational and technical support to foreign cinema companies will also be supported by the National cinema commission of Uzbekistan.
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, National agency “Uzbekkino” and Youth Union of Uzbekistan provide annual funding for the realization of the above-mentioned tasks.
In order to attract well-known film companies to shoot box-office movies, foreign countries offer them different types of stimulating mechanisms.
In order to implement the rebate system for organizational, industrial, and technical assistance to foreign film companies in the movie production, the government establishes and finances National Film Commissions in the form of non-profit organizations.
In addition, at the expense of the off-budgetary Tourism Support Fund under the State Committee for Tourism Development, grants will be allocated for filming short films, documentaries and chronicles about historical and legendary figures of Uzbekistan in the amount of 30% of the project cost, but not more than 3 billion soums.
