Issuance of a permit has been simplified for foreign film companies

According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 24, 2020 “On measures to improve licensing and permitting procedures” from January 1, 2021. Foreign film companies will be able to submit applications for shooting and attach all necessary documents to obtain permission online as well as download electronically permission with QR code.

The term for consideration of the application will be 5 working days; a one-time state fee for issuing a permit is set in five times from the base calculated value, regardless of the number of shooting days in Uzbekistan.

Currently, the processing of the application is 15 days; the fee for issuing a permit is five times from the estimated base value for all shooting days.

In case of unreasonable extension of the period for consideration of applications, the permit will be issued automatically.

This system will be implemented through the “License” information platform at the State Services Agency.

The above mechanisms of this Decree were proposed by the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan and approved by the Ministry of Justice.

The National Film Commission of Uzbekistan considers the adoption of this Decree as an important step in preventing harmful elements such as corruption and bureaucracy.
