In Uzbekistan, the Ukrainian documentary film “Basil” is being shot, about the head coach Oleg Bazilevich, who headed Pakhtakor in 1979.

Forty years ago, the Pakhtakor football team was tragically died, the head coach of which was an outstanding Ukrainian footballer and coach Bazilevich Oleg Petrovich, whom everyone called Basil.

Ukrainian film company MAGICA-FILM arrived in Tashkent to shoot a full-length documentary film “Bazil”, in memory of the life and work of the outstanding Ukrainian football player and coach Bazilevich Oleg Petrovich, who headed the Pakhtakor football team, and who miraculously survived in that tragic story when the whole team died in a plane crash on August 11, 1979, he himself died in October 2018.

The script and director of the film is the famous Ukrainian film director, teacher and Honored Art Worker of Ukraine Roman Shirman.

-“The film is not about football, but about the fate of a person and a lot of moments in the film will be connected precisely with Tashkent. We met people close to him who told their interesting and memorable facts from his life. In this film, we want to touch the strings of the soul of the viewer, so that they feel all the joy and pain of Oleg Petrovich, who, unfortunately, is already with us, but we will always remember, and this film will not let us forget and will keep the history of him for life.

-“First of all, I would like to note that we tried to equip this expedition for about 7 months, but it didn’t work out and we couldn’t understand if we could shoot in Tashkent, and then I accidentally saw the publication on facebook of my friend producer, who was in Cannes 2019 and met with the delegation of the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan, asked for his contacts and immediately contacted the organization. I was glad to hear a professional conversation and specifics, I felt calm that everything would be fine and we will carry out the planned shootings. As I understand it, the organization has developed a certain system of mechanisms for filming applications in its country with other film companies, I admit that I did not expect that we would get an answer so quickly and that everything would be organized upon arrival. For a long time we shifted this expedition and it so happened that the extreme dates that were planned, they just fell out at this time, and by the date of 40 years of the tragedy. All the stars came together to make the expedition. I am grateful to the representatives of the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan for well-coordinated work. ”
